SMS Parents Will Actually Read

Short, specific parent messages for fees, absence and results, and how to stop sending once the parent has already acted.

One message, one action

Say who the message is about, what happened and what to do next. “Amina was absent today. Reply 1 if she is at home.” beats a long notice.

Send to the right list

A fee reminder should go to guardians with a balance, not the whole school. Clean missing phone numbers before the campaign, not after the complaints.

Stop when they have done it

If the payment has posted or the absence is explained, do not send the next reminder. Parents ignore a sender who does not notice.

Mind the length and the language

One SMS is enough for a reminder. Offer English and Kiswahili where your families use both, and show the cost before you send.
