Attendance Without the Register Book

Take the class register on a phone, tell parents the same morning, and keep a term record the head teacher can trust.

Mark it in the lesson, not at lunch

A register taken while the class is in front of the teacher is the one that matches the room. End-of-day memory is how names get missed.

Tell the parent the same morning

An absence message before break gives the family time to reply. A message at 6pm only starts an argument.

Watch the pattern, not the day

Three absences in a fortnight is a conversation. A single missed morning often is not. The term record should make that obvious without a new spreadsheet.

Keep one list of learners

Attendance, fees and marks should use the same admission number. A second register book is how a transferred learner stays on the roll.
